Haiyang
Haiyang, a sunny coastal city in Yantai, Shandong province, includes 14 towns and 732 villages, covering an area of 1,886.8 square kilometers with a population of 664,000.
Haiyang features long history and profound culture. The Ministry of Culture has designated it as the "Hometown of Chinese folk culture and art". Besides, the Haiyang Yange (a popular rural folk dance) has been listed in the first group of national intangible cultural heritages.
Haiyang is also home to rich tourism resources, including Zhaohushan National Forest Park, a 230 kilometer-long coastline, and its famous golden beach, which is over 20 kilometers long.
Recognized as a "China's Excellent Tourism City", Haiyang has used the 2012 Asian Beach Games as an opportunity to raise its tourism profile.
With the construction of the Haiyang-Jimo cross-sea bridge and the Yantai-Haiyang expressway, Haiyang is on its way to joining the tourism golden triangle of Shandong Peninsula. The Haiyang nuclear power station and Haiyang port are under construction as well.
