Consisting of a cluster of 32 islands, the Long Island (Changdao) is the only island county in Shandong province. It lies between the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, and is known for its clean sandy beaches and limestone cliffs.
It has a land area of 56 square kilometers and a sea area of 8,700 square kilometers. Considered as one of the top 10 most beautiful islands in China, Changdao enjoys rich tourism resources, including the Nine-Fathom Cliff, the Crescent Moon Bay, the Amah Reef and the Fairyland Park. The island is also home to Chinese abalone, scallops and seaweed.
In 2011, its total output value reached 5.55 billion yuan ($903.76 million) and the fiscal revenue totaled 121 million yuan.
