Qixia

Qixia city occupies an area of 2,017 square kilometers with a population of 627,000. A total of 12 towns and 961 villages are under the jurisdiction of Qixia.

Qixia is one of Yantai's two leading apple production bases along with Zhaoyuan. It has an apple planting area of 660,000 mu (44,000 hectares), with an annual output topping 1.4 billion kg.

With focus on industrialization and city development, it has maintained a steady growth in the economy. It has been honored as the “Hometown of Apples”, “China’s Excellent Tourism City” and “National Demonstration City for Ecological Construction”.

In 2012, its total output value hit a record high of 20.13 billion yuan ($3.28 billion) and the fiscal revenue totaled 1.76 billion yuan.
