Muping district

Muping district, established in Yantai in 1995, covers an area of 1,511 square kilometers with a population of 450,000.

The district features a long history, profound culture and plentiful tourism resources. It has more than 30 historical sites and six of them have been listed as the provincial key protection units.

With focus on the manufacturing and tourism industries, Muping has become a new coastal district integrating tourism, machinery, food and gold. In 2011, the district’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached 24 billion yuan ($3.91 billion) and the fiscal revenue amounted to 1.5 billion yuan. In addition, the per capita urban disposable income of urban residents was 24,317 yuan while the per capita net income for rural residents was 11,736 yuan.
