9 Jingshan Park (peony)
The peony, a candidate vying with the plum blossom for designation as China's national flower, symbolizes prosperity and elegance. Jingshan Park is known for its diverse collection of 150 kinds of peony, covering eight color series and nine flower shapes. The best time to see peony flowers in the park is from April 20 to late May.

Address: Jingshan Xijie, Xicheng district (opposite the north gate of Forbidden City)
How to get there: Take Bus No 5 to Jingshan Xijie, take Bus No 58, 60, 111 to Jingshan Dongjie, or take Bus No 101, 103, 109, 812, 814 and get off at the Forbidden City.
