JAKARTA - Indonesian President Sussilo Bambang Yudhoyono expressed his satisfaction Monday over growth figure of 6.4 percent attained by the nation during the second quarter this year and vowed to boost up investments.

"There was good news, the BPS had just announced its second quarter economic survey, resulted in 6.4 growth," the president said before presiding over a cabinet meeting here, referring to the announcement made by the state's statistic bureau of BPS shortly before the meeting commenced.

The president said that the Q2 growth level was relatively high amid economic downturns faced by various economies across the world. He thanked all parties involved for their collective commitment and efforts to gain growth at such a level.

The president said that exports were apparently down during the period, but investments turned up despite hindrances in the sector.

"I wish that we can overcome hindrances in the sector together. We had discussed it several times. If we can solve this problem growth contributed from the investment may get higher," the president said.

To address this issue, the president said that he will submit investment opportunities and its requirements in his upcoming official speech before members of the parliament scheduled for August 16.
