JINAN - Special forces of the People's Liberation Army of China and the Indonesian army concluded an anti-terrorism drill in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, on Sunday.

The two regiments, with more than 70 soldiers in each, conducted live-fire exercises, including air landing, shooting and anti-terrorist searches and rescue operations during the 15-day drill.

It was the second such drill conducted by the two armies, and the first within the Chinese border.

Zhao Zongqi, a PLA lieutenant general and the chief of staff of the Jinan Military Command, told the media after the maneuvers that the drill was "an implementation of a strategic consensus reached between leaders of the two armies, as well as concrete measures consolidating the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Indonesia and their troops."

A senior officer of the Indonesian army said the exercise had enhanced anti-terrorism capabilities of the two armies, paving the way for future cooperation.
