 Large Medium  SmallJiang Yikang was elected secretary of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on May 28.

Jiang, born in January 1953, was elected to the post at the first plenary meeting of the 10th CPC Shandong Provincial Committee held in Shandong.
Jiang was born in Zhaoyuan, Shandong province. He joined the CPC in 1970.
He received a Master's degree from Central South University, formerly known as Central South Industry University and joined the CPC in December 1970. He had served in the army and worked in a factory before being employed by the government.
In March 1988, Jiang was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Secretary Bureau of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, Executive Deputy Director and Director of the Affairs Management Bureau for offices affiliated directly to the CPC Central Committee.
From October 2002 to May 2006, he was the Vice Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and President of the Party School of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee.
Then he was appointed as the Vice President of the China National School of Administration, and Secretary of the school's CPC Committee.
Since March 2008, Jiang has been the Secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee.
He was an alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee and is currently a serving member of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
