A handout picture released by the Technical University of Hamburg (Tuhh) shows an electromicroscopic section of the new material Aerographite in Kiel, Germany, 11 July 2012. Scientists from Hamburg and Kiel have developed this lightest material in the world. It has a density of 0.2 milligrams per cubic centimetre and was named Aerographite. It consist of porous carbon tubes which are three dimensionally grown together on the nano and micro level. Possible future use includes batteries and condensers. [Photo/CFP] |
