Hu Qing Yu Tang drugstore

Located to the north of Wu Hill, there is an ancient resplendent and magnificent architectural complex which houses the Hu Qing Yu Tang drugstore. The complex was designed and completed in 1874 by Hu Xue-yan, a famous official merchant in the late Qing Dynasty.

Louwailou

Louwailou, a famous restaurant located south of clear and quite Gu Mountain near scenic West Lake, has a long history of more than 150 years. It is well known for its beautiful view which can be enjoyed at the same time as its delicious cuisine. The owner of this building is believed to be Hong Ruitang, a literator who failed in the imperial examination. He and his wife moved from Shaoxing to Qiantang after the death of their parents, and lived at the bank of Xilin Bridge under Gu Mountain, making a living by boating and fishing. They had expert skills in cooking fresh fish and shrimp, since they came from Shaoxing, a place overflowing with fish and rice. So they selected good fish and shrimp and cooked and sold them. When they noticed that there were no refreshment rooms around their area, they began to save money and opened a restaurant, which was called Louwailou.
