East River New Town, a section wetland on east bank of the Qiantang River near Shanghai includes 5 counties and towns covering an area of 500 square kilometers.

As an important part of the “Great Hangzhou strategy,” the Hangzhou municipal government is trying to develop the East River New Town into a sort of Pudong for Hangzhou. The new area will be developed into a logistics hub, manufacturing center and residential area between 2009 and 2050.
