BEIJING - Beijing police have caught a man who allegedly injured several women with a papercutter on the city's subways, police sources confirmed on Friday.
The suspect, a man surnamed Hu, was apprehended at noon Thursday. Police said the suspect has confessed to his crimes.
An initial investigation found that Hu, a 25-year-old unemployed native of Beijing, was "taking revenge against society due to emotional frustrations," according to a police statement issued on Thursday.
It is yet known how many passengers have been attacked by the man. Internet users on Sina Weibo, a popular microblogging site, said at least five young women had been attacked since Saturday.
A further investigation is under way.
