WASHINGTON - The US Department of Defense confirmed on Friday the United States will conduct a series of military exercises with the Republic of Korea (ROK) involving aircraft carrier USS George Washington off the Korean Peninsula.
Pentagon Spokesman Lt Col Mark Ballesteros told Xinhua that the exercises will take place in the Yellow Sea "in the coming months" involving the nuclear powered George Washington, but didn' t give a specific timetable.
The two countries have just concluded a first sequence of war games in the Sea of Japan, which began late last month. Pentagon Spokesman Geoff Morrell said on Thursday the department and the ROK are "in the process of starting" another round of war games.
He said the new sequence of exercise will take place in both the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea.
Morrell also said the exercise will take place over the next several months.
