Johns Hopkins Medicine International and China Northwest International Medical Center land in Xi'an
Johns Hopkins Medicine International and China Northwest International Medical Center finally landed in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, with a launching ceremony held in the city on Dec 4 after a year of communication.

Charles Wiener, president of Hopkins Medical Group, said at the launching ceremony that Johns Hopkins Medical Group, founded in 1889 and headquartered in the United States, is a top academic medical system integrating medical treatment, scientific research and teaching. Johns Hopkins Hospital under the Johns Hopkins Medical System ranked first in the United States for 22 years in the Best Hospital appraisals by the Journal of American News and World Report.
Johns Hopkins Medicine International and China Northwest International Medical Center will be built in the city’s Yanta district with a total estimated investment of 7 billion yuan ($1.02 billion) and will be constructed and operated in accordance with Joint Commission of International Health Institutions (JCI) certification standards.
Wang Yongkang, member of the Standing Committee of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and secretary of Xi'an Municipal Party Committee, said that the landing of the world's top medical institutions in Xi'an not only injects new strength into the development of the city’s health industry, but also opens a new channel for the introduction of global high-end talents, which indicates that Xi'an's medical industry will usher in new and greater development.
