Director Ang Lee's highly-anticipated film "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" is set to make its world premiere at the New York Film Festival.

The film will debut on Oct 14 in a theater specially equipped with the technology to screen the innovative feature in its intended format.

The film is the first full-length narrative film shot in 4K, native 3D at the ultra high rate of 120 frames-per-second.

Its world premiere will be the first time ever the format will be screened publicly.

"Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" is based on Ben Fountain's 2012 novel.

It tells the story of an Iraq war hero whose homecoming ceremony summons memories of the trauma of losing his beloved sergeant in a firefight.

Newcomer Joe Alwyn plays the title character.
