Photographs for adults

The work of Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki is on display at the Himalayas Museum. The show was scheduled to conclude on Nov 6, but the museum has decided to extend it to Jan 6, 2014, due to popular demand. The exhibition consists of his major series, starting with Sentimental Journey featuring his wife Yoko Araki on their honeymoon, and concluding with his latest creation Decadence in Paradise. Most of his photographs are erotic, and the museum says the show is appropriate only for audiences aged 16 and above.

Imperial palace art

Long Museum is presenting a solo exhibition of the work of Puru (1896-1963). The artist is a member of the Manchu Aisin Gioro clan, and once was a candidate for the throne. His cousin Puyi was chosen to be the last emperor of China. As a prince, Puru was able to access the rich art collection in the imperial palace. With the fall of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), he made a living by selling paintings and calligraphy. He had strongly opposed Puyi's cooperation with the Japanese invaders and moved to Taiwan in 1947. Founder of Long Museum Liu Yiqian is a passionate lover of Puru's art and possesses what is possibly the largest private collection of his work.

9:30 am-5 pm, Mon-Sun, Oct 26-Jun 30, 2014. Long Museum, 210, Lane 2255 Luoshan Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai. 021-6877-8787.

Art meets life

Since then, they have created works of calligraphy, paintings, photography, video, installations, architecture and performance. The group has achieved international fame in contemporary art circles, by breaking down the boundaries between art and life. They are based in Yanjiang, a small city in the southwest of Guangdong province. The retrospective exhibition of their works over the past 10 years is now a major show at Minsheng Museum of Modern Art.
