Reconnecting with love

Art beat in November

Andre and Dorine is about an elderly couple whose former passion for each other has faded into indifference. The monotony is broken by Alzheimer's. They have to try to remember who they were so as to regain their love, identity and life itself. As a silent show based on true stories, the play breaks cultural barriers with the universal power of body language and music. It proved a pleasant success when it was performed in China last year, moving many audiences to tears and creating social discussions on family, companionship, life and death. Presented by Spain's Kulunka Teatro, Andre and Dorine has toured extensively in Spain, South America, the United States, China and Europe. It was an award winner at the Birmingham European Theatre Festival in 2011 and at the La Habana International Theatre Festival 2011 in Cuba.

Before releasing her first album A Good Day, she was a regular at open-mic nights where she polished her performances. When her music featured on TV series and in films such as Bride Wars and Love Happens, she reached a wider audience. Her collaboration with Taiwan pop group Sodagreen gained her fans in China. Ahn's debut China tour takes her to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Storm of action

Everything we love about Hong Kong cinema can be found in the crime thriller The White Storm: friendship, crime, actions and gunplay - not to mention performances by veteran Hong Kong actors Louis Koo, Sean Lau and Nick Cheung. Director Benny Chan is working in a familiar genre to follow three good friends, two policemen and an undercover colleague working with the biggest drug dealer in Thailand. Their first campaign failed, however, and the three need to find a way to get across the border. The film also features the stunning Thailand transgender star, Poy, as supporting actress. She has some emotional scenes with Nick Cheung's character. The film will be released on Nov 29.
