That victory later led to an invitation to him to participate in a special marathon in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province that year - an annual 42-km race. It was his first marathon, and he finished in 3 hours, 9 minutes.
Last year, he completed a 100-km run at the South Pole and became the first Chinese runner to compete in an ultramarathon on all seven continents.
