URUMQI - Xinjiang Guanghui secured Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league finals ticket by sweeping Dongguan Marco Polo 3-0 after they clinched the 108-100 home win over Dongguan Marco Polo in the best-of-five semifinal series on Sunday.
Dongguan saw some glimmer of hope when they managed to cut a 15-point deficit to only two with yet two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but only to see Hudson and Singleton make all their three attempts to help Xinjiang secure their victory with a double-digit lead in the final minute.
Despite the twist in the tail, Xinjiang almost led all the way in Game 3. Lester Hudson, who made a 0.9-second three-pointer to gift Xinjiang the initial victory in the semifinals, collected 27 points in Game 3, making Dongguan's efforts all in vain.
Marbury leads Beijing close to CBA finals
Former NBA star Steven Marbury scored 43 points as Beijing Ducks claimed a road victory over defending champions Guangdong Hongyuan 109-104 on Saturday.
With the away win, Beijing put their noses in front again in the best-of-five semifinal series in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league and need only one more victory to advance to the finals.
