The Old Town of Lijiang in southwest China's Yunnan province was awarded the title of "2019 Netizens' Favorite Top Ten Ancient Villages and Towns" at the Fourth National Conference on Historic Villages, which was held in Qikou ancient town, Shanxi province from May 23-25.

Relying on three evaluation criteria covering resource endowment, protection efforts, and service level, a total of 90 ancient villages and towns participated in the competition.
As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old Town of Lijiang has many titles, such as "State-listed Famous Historical and Culture City," "National 5A-level Tourist Attraction," and "Best Domestic Tourism Destination."
The Old Town of Lijiang has perfectly adapted being a key commercial and strategic site, while also retaining a high quality and historic authenticity. Its architecture is noteworthy for the blending of elements from several cultures that have come together over many centuries.

In its promotion of its cultural resources, the town has successively created 17 national cultural display points, such as the Naxi Pictograph Painting Experience Museum.
In the future, it will continue to promote the construction progress of 12 new cultural projects, introducing new cultural formats and creating an updated version of the national cultural courtyard.
