A folk performance given by a selection of national singing competition winners of the Naxi ethnic group was held in Lijiang, Yunnan province, on Aug 7.
Sponsored by the Lijiang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, Film, Press and Publication, the event is aimed to protect Naxi culture and educate more people about Lijiang and the Naxi.
He Xingfeng, a Naxi girl, won a singing championship in Xingguang Dadao by putting the distinctive Naxi culture on stage. This time she expressed her love and appreciation for her hometown directly in song at the performance.
Xingguang Dadao, or Star Way, is one of China national television's (CCTV) most popular programs, offering a channel for grassroots talent to showcase their singing, dancing and other unusual skills.

Also featured at the performance, a children's choir performed classic Naxi nursery rhymes in the Naxi's distinctive "Dongba" language.
The choir won the gold medal at the 6th China Children's Choral Festival in Guangzhou on July 26, standing out from over 3,000 people from 49 teams from all over the country.

Yulong Shan, a folk music duo and winners from a folk music TV show, presented the simple and unadorned Naxi folk culture in their deep and powerful voices. Their name is derived from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a famous scenic spot in Lijiang featuring a harsh natural landscape.
