Agricultural technicians in Lijiang, Yunnan province, have been utilizing drones to spray pesticides over planting fields, improving the efficiency of disease and pests control in the agriculture industry.

Experts recently shared that the technicians have been working for 20 days so that the pest problems can be solved before July, the breeding season.

"The drones have obvious advantages over our past manual operations, including low cost, high efficiency and a wide reach," said Zhang Ying, director of the Yulong Snow Mountains Nature Reserve Administration.

Drones can fly over trees and bushes out of reach, and adjust the spray amount through remote control, Zhang introduced.

The forestry bureau of Lijiang has been actively working with Yunnan Nongchou Agricultural Science and Technology Co Ltd to preserve forest resources by combining high-end technology with manual labor this year.

Drones for agricultural use commenced operation in Lijiang at the end of 2016 and have been well received by local farmers ever since.
