An international martial arts cultural festival successfully ended in Lijiang recently, signaling Lijiang’s great progress in promoting those skills.

The festival was held by Lijiang’s martial arts association which has succeeded in popularizing the activity among local people.

The association has built a free combat training base and spread the concept of a rank system.

In July of 2013, the association set up a martial arts team in a school for orphans in Lijiang. The team has won many sports awards.

Wu bin, Kongfu master of Jet Li, a famous Chinese Kongfu film star and Wushu champion, visited the school to guide and encourage the students. The international martial arts festival, first held in Lijiang in 2013, has attracted participants from many countries including the United States and Japan.

The festival is Yunnan’s largest martial art competition and has a positive influence throughout China. Lijiang also emphasizes cultivation of young martial arts lovers. The association sends many coaches to kindergartens to teach the children basic sklls and Wushu gymnastics.
