Lijiang volunteers protect mountains and lakes

Volunteer activities were recently held in Luoshui village,Lijiang city, Yunnan province to protect the mountains, plateaus and rivers.

Zhang Jianhua, Lijiang’s deputy minister of publicity, said that the activity will improve Yunnan’s volunteer services. Volunteers should cherish the plateau and rivers, and encourage more and more people to participate, Zhang said.

Thanks to environmental protection, the water quality of Lugu Lake has been well preserved.

"The county cultural administration should integrate volunteer services into the overall plan of environmental protection, and guide people to take action voluntarily," said Yuan Xingfa, deputy secretary of the Party’s Ninglang County Committee.

Lu Baosheng, head of publicity in Ninglang’s Party Committee, said that, the activity encourages ecological protection. "We will cherish the Lugu River, just like protecting our own eyes," said Lu.

Volunteers said that natives and visitors should protect mountains, plateau and rivers, and over 600 volunteers signed a commitment pledge.

Local government and party leaders attended the ceremony.
