The First Yunnan Special Snacks and Yunnan Minority Food Culture Festival was held in Lijiang, a famous tourism city, from Aug 1 to 31.
This year’s snack festival is the biggest in history. From Aug 1 to 7, the festival witnessed 500,000 visits and had a total turnover of 9.15 million yuan. The opening ceremony on Aug 1 attracted 100,000 visits with a turnover of 1.4 million yuan. A total of 110 exhibitors attended the fair with 130 vendors selling Yunnan snacks.
The snacks included 888 Lijiang Stuffed Buns, a local staple. Each is two centimeters thick and 20 centimeters across. This set a new record for the largest number of Lijiang Stuffed Buns produced at once.
Aside from the Lijiang Stuffed Buns, an 88.8-meter-long Lijiang Roll was produced at the festival to remind people of the 880 years of history. It also set a world record for length.
During the festival, Yongcheng County was honored as “Truffle’s home in China” by China Cooking Association. Yongcheng county can produce more than 200 tons of truffle each year, which are sold to international markets such as Europe and America. The honor is good for the protection and development of the truffle industry and local economy.
A book titled “Famous special snacks in Yunnan” was released, introducing more than 200 special snacks from the province. Readers can not only learn about where to taste these snacks but can also learn how to make them. The book was called a“treasury” for foodies.
Combining beautiful sceney with delicious food, the snacks festival offers tourists a memorable trip and aims to make Yunnan snacks more well-known around the country.
According to the event committee, the second Yunan Special Snacks and Yunnan Minority Food Culture Festival will be held in Dali, Yunnan province in 2016.
