Expressway between Yunnan's most popular scenic spots

The Yunnan province transportation department announced, on April 15, that construction work on its four-lane Lijiang–Shangri-la Expressway will begin this May, with the highway having a designed speed of 80 km/hr and a width of 24.5 meters, at a cost of 20.32 billion yuan ($3.27 billion).

This is part of the Xining-Lijiang leg of the Beijing-Tibet national road network, with a total length of 140.7 kilometers, 126 km for the main line and the rest Grade A roads, with a link to the downtown area of Shangri-la.

The head of the Lijiang-Shangri-la Expressway Construction Center, Yang Jigui, explains that they are working hard on the preliminary part, in land expropriation and relocation before May and expect to get the construction work going this May.
