The groundbreaking ceremony of the Lijiang-Shangri-La highway project was held in Jiantang town of Shangri-La county on Dec 30, 2014.
The highway connecting Lijiang and Shangri-La is an important part of the highway project connecting Beijing and Lhasa. The Lijiang-Shangri-La highway will start from Gongyi village and reach Lijiang's Baihanchang village with a total length of 125 kilometers. The highway project will significantly improve the domestic highway network structure and promote regional economic development.
Ding Shaoxiang, vice-governor of Yunnan province, stressed the importance of exploring the new cooperation mode between the local government and the companies.
