The Lijiang comprehensive gas project was implemented smoothly, and the city’s residents can hopefully use clean energy by the end of this year, Lijiang Daily reported.
The China-Myanmar gas pipeline is expected to connect by the end of 2014. If Lijiang’s gas project goes well and the construction of the gas gate station, gas pipelines and the city pipe networks are completed on time, Lijiang would be the fifth city in Yunnan to connect to the China-Myanmar gas pipeline after Yuxi, Baoshan, Kunming and Dehong.
In 2013, Lijiang’s local government and Yunnan PetroChina Kunlun Gas Corporation cooperated and jointly developed the gas project. Both sides signed the Lijiang Natural Gas Project Cooperation Framework Agreement after several rounds of negotiation. Meanwhile, both sides invested and constructed a new company named Lijiang PetroChina Kunlun Gas Corporation, opening a prologue for Lijiang’s utilization of natural gas.
Lijiang’s gas project is an important part of Yunnan’s gasification strategic plan, utilizing clean energy and promoting energy conservation and emission reduction. The project includes the construction of a gas gate station, high pressure gas transmission pipeline and city gas pipeline network. Since the project started, Lijiang PetroChina Kunlun Gas Corporation has finished various works, including project planning, project review and project site selection. Now, the construction of a city gas pipeline is being prepared.
According to a staff member from Lijiang PetroChina Kunlun Gas Corporation, Lijiang’s city energy supply structure might change after the connection of the gas pipeline. Apart from the daily energy supply of residents, the city’s public transportation will also use clean natural gas.
