According to Kunming's railway administration, Lijiang, Kunming, Dali and Qujing will introduce an ID-based ticket checking system on Aug 15, Yunnan.net reported.
The railway staff will check a customer's identity card to ensure that it's consistent with the ticket purchased.
Influenced by the pre-sale system, some tickets sold earlier didn't contain a ticket buyer's identity. With regard to these pre-sold tickets, the railway administration explained that customers can still travel without identity checking even if their departure time is later than Aug15.
Customers who are not able to provide an identity card for checking can apply for a temporary identity certificate in the train station. The temporary identity certificate application will require the applicant's name, identity card number and proof of identification such as a marriage certificate.
