Lijiang's public bicycle system is under construction and expected to go into operation before the National Day period, which begins on Oct 1.
The first-stage project will include the construction of 30 bike stations in Lijiang's city center with 1,000 bikes put into use.
The specific charge model of renting bicycles is still under discussion. The formulated plan indicates that renting a bike for less than one hour will be free of charge.
Lijiang will provide tourists with different methods of payment including mobile payment, which will be more convenient for renters. The public bicycle service in Lijiang will be centered on central areas with large population flow, such as school surroundings and central business districts.
