On Jan 30, the traditional Chinese New Year's Eve event at the Marina Bay floating stage welcomed a series of exciting cultural events and a grand display of goods. Yunnan brought original Hani ethnic group performances, ethnic handicrafts and cuisine to Singapore, attracting many people.

Singaporeans enjoyed the Yunnan Lijiang-style embroidery booth. One Singaporean showed a strong interest and immediately spent over SGD$1,000 ($789) to buy a piece.

Liang Qin, principal of the Lijiang-style embroidery school, introduced embroidery as a typical ethnic art consisting of 52 different methods. More than 10 embroideries were sold during the event's two days.

According to Zhang Huazhong, president of the Arts and Crafts Association of Yunnan, nine Yunnan companies came to Singapore to attend the exhibition of arts and crafts, including companies specializing in bornite, spot tin, silver jewelry, ethnic embroidery, Jianshui pottery, Huaning pottery and jade.

The River Hongbao 2014 opening night and lighting ceremony was graced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on the evening of Jan 29, 2014, the night before the eve of Spring Festival, on a floating stage at Marina Bay. Yunnan performers participated in the gala.
