"The Source of Lijiang" Art Expo kicked off in Lijiang city on Jan 6 and will last until Jan 28. The expo is themed around "presenting traditional and ethnic culture in the contemporary world."
The expo presents the charm of Chinese calligraphy, Chinese brush drawing, thangka (a painting on cotton or silk, usually depicting a Buddhist deity), Chinese incense ceremonies, tea ceremonies, and guqin in the form of exhibitions and art activities.
Lijiang plans to build a new brand of cultural industry to demonstrate Chinese traditional culture and Lijiang art and make it become a demonstration base of intangible cultural heritage. Apart from the art expo, some exhibitions and performances will be held at different times each year.
Cooperating with art institutions from Shanghai and Taiwan, the expo invited famous artists from home and abroad to join.
