WiFi available on buses

The passengers of Lijiang Gaokuai Passenger Coach Station can surf the web using WiFi during their journeys on long-distance buses.

Lijiang Gaokuai Passenger Coach Station has installed a WiFi system on nearly 50 buses to provide internet access for the passengers, who can now surf the web through devices such as smart phones and laptops.

According to the station’s safety technician, the system can provide internet access for 50 people at the same time, as well as 4G internet access. All access is free for the passengers without any additional fee, although the passengers must first watch a video about safety information on the bus, prior to being able to surf the web.

Until now, vehicle WiFi access has been available on routes from Lijiang to destinations like Dali, Lugu Lake and Shangri-la.The bus ticket price is the same as before, and no additional fees are to be charged for this service. According to the feedback from passengers, the service has provided them with alternativ ways to kill spare time on the journey.
