An investigation team visited several companies in Lijiang city, in Southwest China's Yunnan province, from Oct 14 to 21, as part of an environmental protection campaign, with the theme" advance the local industry, intensify water crisis management", lijiang.cn reported.
Wang Jinlong, deputy director of the Lijiang Municipal Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, led the team, which included representatives of the local environmental protection bureau and local media reporters.
The investigation focused on how well the companies are following various laws and regulations, with an emphasis on their performance in clean production, energy conservation, marine ecosystem protection, and water environment comprehensive treatment.
In recent years, Lijiang has been facing increasing pressure regarding water supply and management, due to the ongoing industrialization and urbanization of the city, and the campaign aims to further raise awareness of water protection. This year's campaign marked the 10th such initiative.
