A total of 290,000 people visited seven parks in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province, during the Mid-Autumn Festival from Sept 19 to 21, and a few of the parks saw an increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period last year, Spring City Evening News reported.

The visitors enjoyed such facilities as the 100 boats at Cuihu Park, which gave couples and families the opportunity to see the moon from the river.

A total of 80,000 visitors enjoyed the three-day holiday in the park, which was open free of charge to the general public, while hundreds of red lanterns created a pleasant festival atmosphere.

Over 70,000 visitors spent time at Kunming Zoo during the holiday, with 30,000 of these people arriving on Sept 19, the Mid-Autumn Day.

Heilongtan Park organized a Sinology Culture Experience Day on Sept 19, and this event also attracted many foreign nationals.

The visitors had the chance to see traditional Han Chinese costumes, and appreciate ancient music, calligraphy and paintings.

About 1,000 colorful chrysanthemums in Tanhuasi Park were also popular with the public, and some visitors chose to have a barbecue amid the flowers in the moonlight.
