Hotel Indigo, a brand of the InterContinental Hotels Group, also known as IHG, recently opened a hotel in the ancient town of Lijiang, china.com.cn reported. This is the latest Hotel Indigo in China, following others in Shanghai, Xiamen, Tianjin, and Hong Kong.
The new property is the first high-end hotel that is located inside the ancient town, and it has 70 rooms including presidential suites. The management said that all of the rooms boast designs showcasing local traditional elements, including Naxi characteristics. Naxi refers to the people of the Naxi ethnic group who mostly live in the Naxi autonomous county in Lijiang.
Wang Sisi is a marketing director at IHG, which also owns Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts and has a Crowne Plaza in Lijiang's ancient town. Wang said that, though the Hotel Indigo and the Crowne Plaza brands share the same management team, the Crowne Plaza is especially known for its expertise in business conferences and exhibitions.
