The local authorities have decided to build an extension on the Biantun Culture Museum, which is located in Yongsheng county, Lijiang city, Yunnan province, and receives approximately 30,000 visitors a year, the Yongsheng government said on Aug 20.

The museum, which officially opened in 2011 and is said to have contributed a great deal to the local cultural life, is expected to spend 21 million yuan ($ 3.43 million) to purchase 60.8 acres (24.6 hectares) of land for the extension.

The museum’s management had received complaints about its narrow driveway and the over-crowded parking lot, and they decided to purchase additional land and start an expansion in order to solve these problems.

The extension will start from the south Shiwan village and end at the northern side of the museum.
