The month-long 2013 Zhouyang-Kunming Colored Lantern Carnival will be held at the Yunnan Nationalities Village in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, from September 19 and organizers have invited top planners in China and invested 30 million yuan ($4.9 million), in a bid to create a tourism brand for Yunnan.
The carnival will run from 19:30 to 23:30 every evening, and will feature different themes such as Yunnan, Fashionable Kunming, Happy Kunming, Romantic Kunming and Colorful Kunming.
There will also be an exhibition of 83 large colored lanterns, a water screen film, artistic performance and a fashion show.
The event is inspired by Yunnan’s ethnic groups, and combines traditional and modern arts and high-tech, in addition to an eco-friendly message.
