The temperature in most regions of Yunnan, located in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, is hovering between 15 to 28 degrees Celsius, and the province is seeing an influx of visitors this summer, as parts of China are experiencing temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
Residents of Kunming, the provincial capital, rarely use fans and air-conditioners, and many visitors from around the country have travelled to the city. Other popular summer destinations in Yunnan include Lijiang and Yuxi.
Tourist agencies in the province have introduced routes to scenic spots such as Meili Snow Mountain and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, where the weather is relatively cool. Yunnan’s tourist boom is expected to last until the Golden Week of the National Day in October.
