An education support team from Hunan Normal University will finish a volunteer activity on August 3. The team arrived at a primary school in Qihe village, Lijiang, Yunnan province, on July 17 to carry out the 18-day education support activity.
In addition to the basic curriculum, such as Chinese, mathematics, English and physical education, the team members also taught local students various interesting courses covering topics such as music, hip-hop, origami, painting, Dongba script, recitation, encyclopedic knowledge and health.
On July 23, the team successfully held a meeting themed "Teenage Dream, Dream China". They also donated 200 books to the school. Other activities included psychological guidance for students, home visits and surveys.
In addition, a family sports meeting was held on July 26. On July 31, a medical and health lecture and a psychological consultation will also be held. An evening party on August 3 will symbolize the end of the supporting education activity.
The team members said they consider supporting education their primary responsibility and mission. They hope that this kind of activity in poverty-stricken areas can continue so that the students can expand their horizons.
