Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition and Trade Fair held in Shenyang

Updated: 2010-07-22

On July 21, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition and Trade Fair opened in Tiexi Cultural Square, Shenyang.

108 intangible cultural heritage samples, including dough figurines, paper-cuttings, embroidery and eggshell carvings are exhibited there. The performances of folk artisans captivate visitors.

In one of the exhibition stands, entitled "Tang's dough figurine," one folk artisan surnamed Tang performs making dough figurine before an audience.

"I learned it from my grandfather, who is from the first generation of dough figurine artisans," Tang said. "Since childhood, I have been interested in the art of dough figurines, and now I find my daughter is interested in it too. I will pass down the dough figurine craft to her."

Shenyang's Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition and Trade Fair will last until July 23. The exhibition hours are from 9:00 to 15:30.
