Bus station project to ease traffic in Hangzhou

2010-August-17 15:39:57

On Aug 12, Hangzhou Municipal Construction Committee announced a plan to reconstruct bus stations on Zhonghe Road, Hangzhou.

Zhonghe Road is one of the major roads in Hangzhou, which has 11 bus stops on the east side between the sports center and Fengshan Road. Most of these bus stops are short, which is inconvenient for buses to pull in and out.

Ten of the 11 bus stops are located on the roadside, buses occupying a traffic lane when pulling in. Therefore, it slows down the flow of traffic and sometimes causes traffic jams.

The plan is to reconstruct the 11 bus stops, extending their length to ease buses pulling in and out, and to improve the facilities at the bus stops. Waiting rooms will also be upgraded according to the style of each bus stop, enabling passengers waiting for buses to be in a more comfortable space.
