Grand Tianmu Canyon has been submitted for status as a national 4-A Scenic Area - the highest in China - and as a World Geological Heritage site.

Formerly called Grand Volcanic Stone Canyon, it was formed by the only volcano in east China that hundreds of millions of years ago formed Tianmu Mountain.

Vacationers enjoy river raft rides and other water related activities.

After lava cooled, moving glaciers left behind hundreds of miles of canyons.

The beautiful scenery of the canyon has drawn great poets and writers since ancient times.
