The Capital Museum also has other three exhibitions to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China.

Exploration of the Ancient Mystery exhibits Chinese archaeological finds over several decades, assembling more than 200 cultural relics.

The exhibition shows off 260 items contributed from 25 museums around China, which presents the history of China.

One of the oldest items on display is an olive-shaped xun, an ancient musical instrument that dates back more than 7,000 years. A jar made of pottery, which was unearthed in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, still has its original color and form after over 5,000 years buried underground.

Recent excavations from Henan province are a bronze jar and a cup, which could help archaeologists learn more about the Shang (c. 16th century-11th century BC) and Zhou (c. 11th cenury-256 BC) dynasties.

Some items in the exhibition are from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, where the Xiaohe Burial Ground has stunned the world with over 30 mummies excavated since 2004. Three mummies, including a male, a female, and a baby, are on display. The oldest one dates back 3,800 years.

The two exhibitions will run till the end of October.

Two other exhibitions, The Origin of Chinese Civilization and Chinese Ethnic Groups, will open in mid-September.
