Easy Talk: Should school uniforms be mandatory?

Most Chinese primary and middle schools require their students to wear uniforms to classes. Parents and education professionals are very divided over this mandatory rule, and the debate is not restricted to China, similar discussion is also going on in other countries too. So should student attire be part of school discipline? And what does this have to do with students'academic performance and campus fairness?
