A slander suit filed by veteran rocker Wang Feng is set to get underway on May 22 in Beijing.
Wang is suing an entertainment reporter and the Shanghai Newspaper Group.
He's demanding 4 million yuan ($645,200) in compensation after an article was published describing him as a "gambling pioneer."
The story alleged Wang was part of a poker tournament in Jiangsu province which was later shut-down under China's anti-gambling laws.
Wang is suing for libel, claiming he was only there to take part in the opening ceremony.
The event itself was billed as a charity poker tournament, but involved some $1.3 million in prizes.
