NANCHANG -- Six people were killed and three others injured after a gas blast occurred at a coal mine early Thursday morning in East China's Jiangxi province, local authorities confirmed.
The explosion happened at around 1:20 am at Hexing Coal Mine in Baitu township of Fengcheng city, the provincial coal mine safety supervision bureau said.
The injured miners are being treated in a local hospital. One of them suffered serious injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the blast is underway.
