Almost 1,300 people were killed by drivers without a license in the 10 months to the end of October, the Ministry of Public Security reported on Monday.
By Oct 31, unlicensed drivers caused 3,639 accidents, causing 1,290 fatalities and injuring 4,464, according to the ministry.
Dec 2 is National Traffic Safety Day, and the theme this year is “abandoning bad habits, promoting safety awareness”, the ministry said.
The ministry is targeting dangerous behavior, such as not using seatbelts and making phone calls while driving.
