Police capture gang leader after year-long manhunt

The arrest of a gang leader ended a year-long investigation and manhunt by police in Hubei province.

Two gangs from Huangmei county had been involved in a dispute over a sand excavation business.

This led to a violent knife fight, involving about 40 gang members, on Dec 8, 2012.

Police broke up the fight but the gang leaders, and some others, evaded capture. However police did arrest a number of gang members and were eventually able to track down the others.

Over the course of the next few days and weeks, various gang members were arrested including some in Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces.

The last principal member was finally arrested on Nov 11 in Jiujiang, Jiangxi province.
