Students injured severely in E China school bus crash

A number of students suffered severe injuries when the bus they were traveling on was hit by a truck on Thursday morning.

The bus was carrying about 50 students when the accident occurred in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, China News Service reported.

The accident, which police said was caused by careless driving by the truck driver, occurred at around 7 am on Thursday, the report said, without disclosing the exact number of injured students. However, injuries included bone fractures.

Following the accident, emergency workers, police officers and teachers rushed the injured to a hospital.

Pictures showed the left side of the school bus has had been severely damaged.

Police said the school bus was not overloaded and was not exceeding the speed limit.
